Summertime is quickly closing to an end ,but I just wanted to take this time to say that I've had the. best. summer. ever. Notice. how. I'm. spacing. things. out. by. periods. It's. to. emphasize. what. I'm. saying. Hopefully this summer will set the bar for my senior year, just to continue the goodness. How's everyone's summer been?

AN OPEN LETTER TO REALITY TV

Jul. 5th, 2009 | 09:13 pm

Why would I ever give a shit about the people on your show? I will never find myself in any of those situations, nor can I learn anything about it. I said it back in 2000, and I'll say it now. Just give it a rest.
Love,
Kitt

Happy Birthday, America

Jul. 4th, 2009 | 11:28 pm

Today for the fourth of July, I got drunk and grilled delicious cheeseburgers. Then I got drunk some more, danced to live disco, and then watched Return.
What could be better than celebrating America's independence from England than watching the galaxy win its independence from the Empire?

My office in Pasadena (apart from my on the Disney lot office) is Howard Hawks' 100 year old home restored last year to be a loft for post, and a giant living space for chilling and working, and a huge kitchen for free food and drinks. Working for Disney couldn't have been a better choice. I just hope they hire me again when I get out.

Oh yeah and I'm helping produce (or re-arrange) Disney Nature: Oceans. So when you're blazed next earth day, you can thank me n my crew for making it more family friendly.

I rely on Facebook and others to document the good times that I don't remember. Unfortunately, that happens to be all the times.
This is the biggest problem in my life.

I would say more about this, but it would take volumes to express how frustrated I am with the way I see life. So to summarize:

It's here, now. Then, as soon as it comes, it's *poof* gone, like it never happened.

I live in the now, but all the good times happened then. So why can't I see good times until they've already happened?

Terminator: Salvation Review

May. 22nd, 2009 | 11:39 am

So I saw Salvation last night. And as much as I thought the franchise was ruined by T3, I think that there's some "salvation" in this one. But even then, it's iffy.

I came into this thinking that they'd have John Connor send a Terminator back in time to protect himself, because time travel was the premise of all that stuff in the first place. I was surprised to find that the film was pretty far from that. Instead, he has to protect his future father, Kyle, who is supposed to be sent back in time to bang Sarah Connor. There's no time travel in this one, which, in retrospect, would have made this movie shit, and I 'spose it's genius because it leaves room for a sequel.

Christian Bale I think was the real "salvation" in this series. I could see a reflection of that punkass back in T2 when he puts on thrasher metal to attract a motorcycle robot into a classic trap. I couldn't tell whether or not Sam Worthington had an Australian accent because he was doing the batman rasp, or at least trying to copy Bale's.
There was some frustrating aspects I would have liked to change about the script, mostly because it was re-written by like 9 dudes.
I would have very much liked to see Marcus (Sam Worthington) actually killing his brothers and father, I think that'd be a great way to open up the movie, rather than the face to face dialogue with a cancer ridden Helena Bonham Carter that wants to hold your hand through all the important plot exposition so you know exactly what's going on.

I'd also like to know how getting stabbed through the chest with an axe handle doesn't kill you. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. And you might be saying "oh now he's just nitpicking", but seriously? A cauldron of lava and a sub-zero pipe both within shooting range? C'monnnn. It's like the red barrels that are next to a group of enemies. Oh hey there it is, shoot it! How convenient!

All the action sequences(and how believable it is that Marcus survives all of them) were f'in sweet, especially the gas station scene / chase scene. The score was also very well done, and played well with the empty and bereft post-apocalyptic atmosphere the movie gave off.
The cinematography was pretty well put together, especially the helicopter crash scene done entirely from inside the chopper. It's not revolutionary, but it's a good addition to the franchise and it's better than T3.

If you like explosions, cool robots, Christian Bale, badass chase scenes, and great audio/visual effects, then this movie is for you. If you don't like constantly flickering lights that refuse to stay on, sparks flying everywhere, random things on fire in the middle of a rainstorm, and franchise plot holes, then you might want to rethink your ticket purchase.
Oh yeah, and Sam Worthington's a robot.

Although I had a fantastic time partying with my senior bros, I have vicariously gathered that there is a great desperation deep within all these graduating seniors, and that there is a looming threat that I shall be doing the exact same thing next year - partying, crying, loving, and with a huge side of worry.
God Speed, you know I love you.

So to update,

I got my computer back after BC tech services (I ended up asking for their help) completely reformatting it and starting from scratch.
I have stuff backed up so it wasn't that bad.
And for some reason now, the pending stress of not having a computer is still residual, as if there's something I've forgotten or missed. You know when you're stressed but there's no real reason to be? yeah that one. That one right there.

Today's the last day of classes, and it's crept up on me so quickly that I didn't even notice. I'm sure it's because I'm thinking ahead to the upcoming week of finals and moving out and partying and moving my shit and eventually going out to L.A.

I'm really looking forward to this summer, as I am with most summers. A good time to take a break, meet new people, keep up with old friends, change of scenery, and make some MONEY.

I hear that when you drink the kool aid at Disney you never go for anything else. does that mean I have a job when I graduate?

Also, I still have my Bass, but someone has to keep it over the summer.

Apr. 23rd, 2009 | 02:33 pm

Here are a few things that have been bothering me/what I've been thinking about.
Tell me what you think.

I have a virus on my computer but I'm too stubborn to take it to BC tech services. Do they even help you?

Windows 7 looks shitty.

Does BC let you keep the virus protection thing once you graduate?

And, how's everyone's life post college?

I'm realizing that it's getting to be around that time again when we GTFO, and I heard senior year's not as cool as most people expect, and that there are mixed feelings upon leaving.

Should I sell my Yamaha bass guitar that I've had since 6th grade? I NEVER use it but I've been on the fence because of its vague sentimental value.

Finals blow.

Looking for one of those answers. My roommates who I loved and lived with all last year aren't bothering to keep in contact with me. And I keep coming up on facebook and seeing all of them having the best time ever. John Flowers won't even give me the time of day. I know I'm different, but do they exclude outsiders that much? I think my suspicions have led me to this point, I should have seen it coming had it not been for my silly optimism.
